With a grant from SPARC352 and a fiscal sponsorship from Bailey Learning and Arts Collective (BLAAC), Terri Bailey Writes published a book called Gainesville Proper! And guess what else? About Terri

Terri L Bailey was born and raised in Gainesville, FL. At 40, she returned to school and obtained a BS in Elementary Education from Bethune-Cookman University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She also holds an MA in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University and an MA in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of FL. A lifelong writer and storyteller, Bailey often incorporates her advocacy and organizing work into her poetry, weaving women’s empowerment and social justice issues into her spoken word performances.

Terri is the Founder of Bailey Learning and Arts Collective (BLAAC - pronounced black), the Queens Room Women’s Empowerment Group, and virtual S.H.E. Terri Bailey Creative, Healing and Alternative Therapies, LLC (TerriBaileyCHATs.com). TerriBaileyCHATs allows her a more significant opportunity to serve the community at large and women specifically through coaching, Writing to Heal workshops, spiritual consultations, and classes offering empowerment tools.

Terri Bailey feels the presence of African spirituality in her life is the grace that continues to save and nurture her. She lives in Gainesville’s oldest African American settlement, her beloved Pleasant Street district, with her husband, artist Turbado Marabou and daughter Aaliyah.
